The national NOW conference was held this weekend in Virginia. There were excellent speakers, an ERA rally, and great workshops.
Join us Thursday, July 6th at 6:30 p.m. for a conference recap with Eastern District NOW Board member, Kobby Hoffman of Charlottesville, VA, and Triad NOW co-president, Audrey Muck.
Kobby Hoffman is the immediate past president of Charlottesville NOW. She joined Charlottesville NOW in 1985, and has held a number of offices, including several times as President and majority of those years on the local chapter Board. In 2018, Kobby was appointed to the National NOW Board, representing the Eastern Division and was elected for another term in summer 2022. In 1989 Kobby was a founder of the Blue Ridge Abortion Fund (BRAF) and served many years as President and as a Board member until summer 2020. Originally a project of Charlottesville NOW, BRAF is now a nonprofit that served 1700 women last year. Along with three others, Kobby also founded the Take Back the Night March, which UVA students have since organized for many years along with other TBTN events during the month of April. For years Kobby has worked with NOW to get the Equal Rights Amendment ratified. She looks forward to the day there are equal rights for all, when racism and violence are eliminated, the rights of minorities are respected and protected, and people may live their lives as they choose. For her, “The strengths of NOW are its advocacy on all issues that affect women and their families, and its work to bring us into a truly equal partnership with men." Kobby received a Master of Planning Degree from the University of Virginia. She currently works as an Administrator for UVA and is an Election Official for Albemarle County. She raised two children in Charlottesville and is involved in number of nonprofit organizations that benefit the community.
