Triad NOW will elect new officers at our December, 2018 chapter meeting. Officers elected will formally take their positions January 1, 2019.
We are seeking nominations for the following positions:
- The President, who shall be the spokesperson and administrator of the Chapter and manage the day-to-day affairs of the Chapter between board and Chapter meetings. The president shall preside at all board and Chapter meetings. She shall call regular meetings of the
Executive Board and such special meetings as may be necessary. She shall be authorized to create Special Committees, and shall appoint members to all Standing and Special Committees, and designate the Chairperson thereof. She shall be one of two officers authorized to countersign all checks. She shall not be a member of the Nominating Committee. She shall in a timely manner prepare and file all documents necessary to maintain the chapter’s good standing with National NOW.
- The Vice-Presidents, who shall assist the president and shall chair meetings in the absence of the president:
- The Vice-President for Membership, in addition to the above responsibilities, updates the membership list on a monthly basis, attends meetings and greets guests, follows up with visitors, and generates plans for building the membership base.
- The Vice-President for Fundraising, in addition to the above responsibilities, also generates fundraising opportunities in consultation with the President and Treasurer.
- The Vice-President for Communications, in addition to the above responsibilities, plans and manages communications campaigns for Triad NOW across our multiple online channels as well as engaging with traditional media outlets, with the support and direction of the Board.
- The Treasurer, who shall receive all funds of the Chapter and shall deposit them in such bank as may be designated by the board, and who shall disburse the funds by check in accordance with the budget or vote of the membership, and who shall make regular reports to the board and membership. The Treasurer files new membership information and dues share payments with National NOW and NC NOW. She files the annual tax forms with the IRS.
- The Secretary, who shall take and retain the minutes of both Board and Chapter meetings and attend to general Chapter correspondence.
These officers shall constitute the board. The board shall meet at least four (4) times a year. The president or a majority of the board may call board meetings.
Qualifications and terms of office:
- All officers shall have been members of NOW for six (6) months prior to election, and affiliated with Triad NOW for two (2) months prior to election. IF you are an at-large member and wish to run for office, you must affiliate with our chapter by October 4th; you may do so online at NOW’s Member & Chapter Change page.
- Each officer shall serve a one-year term, and no officer may serve more than two consecutive terms in the same office.
- No person may hold two offices concurrently.
We are also seeking candidates to fill the following additional leadership positions:
- Action Committee Chair – plans and directs actions for the chapter to engage in, with the support and direction of the Board. Serves as an ex officio member of the Board.
- Affirmative Action Committee Chair – plans and implements strategies for diversifying Triad NOW, with the support and direction of the Board. Serves as an ex officio member of the Board.
- Chapter Historian – documents Triad NOW activities and events.
A note about pronouns: NOW supports equality across all gender identities. The use of the pronoun ‘she’ is simply used here as a convenient way to indicate broader inclusion than the traditional ‘he’ which has obviously been an exclusively male designation.
