Help make a change! (Literally!)
For the month of February, Triad NOW members are encouraged to help out the Diaper Bank of North Carolina.
1 in 3 families struggle to afford diapers. Lack of access to diapers jeopardizes children’s health and well being, creates emotional stress for parents, and can prevent access to childcare.
Diaper need doesn’t just affect babies — it has both direct and indirect effects on maternal stress and depression, can prevent mothers’ ability to work and access education because quality childcare facilities require at least a full day’s supply of diapers, and contributes to keeping women dependent on abusive partners. Despite the fact that diapers are a basic human need, no government programs — including WIC and food stamps — assist with purchasing diapers, and they are taxed as nonessential items.
Join us this month in collecting diapers and donations for Diaper Bank of North Carolina, a 501(c)3 nonprofit dedicated to providing eliminating diaper need in our community. Bring size 5 or 6* diapers to the next NOW meeting or drop them off at one of our Triad collection hot spots: http://ncdiaperbank. org/greater-triad/ Prefer to donate dollars to support the mission? Thanks for helping us change the world, one diaper at a time!
*Sizes 5 and 6 are our greatest needs at the moment, but ALL donations are appreciated!
