Triad NOW is a local chapter of the National Organization for Women.
Our chapter was re-activated after the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby decision that granted employers the right to refuse to provide women free or affordable contraception through their health insurance plans. After so many ‘last straws’ over the past years, a group of Winston-Salem area women couldn’t take it any longer and brought the chapter back online to renew the fight for women’s rights in the Triad!
NOW is the largest, most comprehensive grassroots feminist advocacy group in the United States with hundreds of thousands of contributing members and hundreds of state and local chapters across all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Our mission is to bring women into full participation in society – sharing equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities with men, while living free from discrimination. To that end, we focus on six core issues:
- Constitutional equality through the Equal Rights Amendment
- Ending violence against women
- Reproductive Rights
- LGBTQ rights
- Racial justice
- Economic justice
Of course none of these issues stand alone – they intersect across women’s lives.
Thank you for all you do for women’s equality!
